Charlie IIAdoption Pending!
Meet Charlie, he’s somewhere between 5 and 7 years old – best guess. When he came into rescue as a
stray in May 2010 his eyes and ears were a horrible mess. He spent several months with one of MCSR’s
foster families and although he came a long way it was ultimately decided that the only way to relieve
the pain in his ears was for him to have double ear ablation surgery.
Charlie had his surgery just before Christmas and now that he is healed his true personality is finally able to show itself. Charlie is a very sweet and funny boy. He gets along well with other dogs and is even starting to show signs of being playful. He is well housetrained, sleeps comfortably and quietly in a crate at night – although I’m sure he’d much prefer to sleep in the bed. He loves to ride in a car and doesn’t really want to ever be very far out of your sight. Although the surgery has left him deaf, you would never know it as he responds almost as if he hears. Charlie is currently staying in one of our foster homes where he lives with 2 other Cockers and a Brittany. Charlie would really like a home where he got most of the attention, although he’d be OK sharing you with another dog or cat. After all he’s been through he deserves a home where he is the ‘special’ dog. Because of the years of neglect Charlie does suffer from some separation anxiety. He tends to bark and whine when left alone, although he does quiet down after a little while. He also needs regular eye drops because he has ‘dry eye’ – a condition where his eyes don’t produce enough tears on their own. Charlie’s ideal home is one where someone is home most of the time, where he will be the center of attention and he likes nothing better than curling up on your lap to watch TV in the evening. Also MCSR would like to thank Denise Pratt and The Lewiston/Auburn Group of the Southern Maine Chapter of the Embroider's Guild of America and everyone that purchased raffle tickets for the quilt raffle. The money raised in the raffle all went towards helping pay for Charlie’s surgery. And thank you to Dr. Porter and the staff at Lake Region Animal hospital in North Windham for taking such good care of Charlie. Charlie thanks you all! Email us!
